Pakistan Eliminated from T20 World Cup

Pakistan lost to the US and India in their first two matches which daunted their chances of making it to Super Eight

FORT LAUDERDALE (Florida): Pakistan has been eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024 without playing their last Group A match, as the US advanced to the Super Eight following a washed-out match against Ireland.

The crucial US-Ireland game on Friday was abandoned due to rain, giving the US a point and securing their spot in the Super Eight alongside India. Consequently, Pakistan's final match on Sunday is now inconsequential.

This early exit marks the first time since the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 that Pakistan has failed to advance past the group stage. Poor performances, particularly against the US and India, sealed their fate. Administrative and selection errors, such as overlooking promising players like Aamir Jamal, Irfan Naizi, Usama Mir, and Mohammad Ali, also contributed to their downfall.

Pakistan will now return home after their match against Ireland, reflecting on a disappointing tournament marred by inadequate preparation and execution.
