PTV, Voice of Radio Pakistan Newscaster Taskeen Zafar Passes Away at 67

   


Legendary broadcaster and Radio Pakistan's Urdu newscaster Taskeen Zafar was laid to rest in Rawalpindi on Sunday. Veteran politician Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Director of News and Current Affairs Amanullah Sipra, controllers,
and other officers of the state broadcaster attended the funeral. Many from the media industry, especially Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television, also joined the last rites.

Floral wreaths were laid on her grave on behalf of Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Secretary Information Shahera Shahid, Director General Radio Pakistan Saeed Ahmed Shaikh, and Managing Director Pakistan Television.

Born in Rawalpindi in 1957, Taskeen Zafar's broadcasting career spanned over four decades. She joined Radio Pakistan as an announcer in 1980 and also worked with Pakistan Television, reading news and hosting music programs. Last year, she was awarded the Presidential Pride of Performance for her meritorious services.

Radio Pakistan and the broadcasting fraternity mourn the loss of a legend, remembering her eloquent voice and unique news-reading style.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed deep sorrow, calling her death an irreparable loss to the industry, and prayed for her high ranks in the afterlife. Deputy Speaker Syed Mir Ghulam Mustafa Shah also expressed grief over her passing.
